Designing your Wedding Invitations

The importance of your wedding invitations extends beyond the usual details such as the date and location. You can create a good impression right from the start and give your guests an idea of the theme of your wedding if you have chosen one.

Obviously you cannot order your wedding invitations until you have finalised all of the crucial details such as time, date and location. However you can start to think about the design of your invitations straight away in tandem with thinking about the theme of your wedding. When you have the crucial details finalised, double check them again to make sure you have everything correct. The last thing you want is to waste money printing invitations that contain the wrong details or worse still, not notice the wrong details and have the guests show up on the wrong day! For this reason make sure that you proof read the wedding invitation details several times and get some other people to do the same.

If you have chosen a specific theme for your wedding then this is your chance to create a great impression of what the guests can expect right from the start. The wedding invitations can be designed to incorporate your chosen theme. All good design companies will have a range of pictures available that can be placed on the invitation to convey your theme. If you have chosen to have your wedding on a beach, you can make the entire background of the invitation a picture of an ocean landscape.

The impression you make with your wedding invitations can extend beyond the look of it, the wording you use can also play a big part in conveying the theme and formality of your wedding. If you choose to hold a more formal wedding then this can be shown in the language you use. Likewise if you are going for a more casual, relaxed wedding. However be careful not to go over the top either way, the idea is to make the guest excited about accepting the invitation. So try not to go over the top with too much slang because this will almost certainly create the wrong impression.

Also don’t forget that most guests will start to form their opinions of the wedding not at the wedding itself, but at the point when they receive the invitation and start to imagine what the wedding will be like. If you can create a good impression from the start then your guests will arrive at the wedding in high spirits which will help to create a fun and friendly atmosphere.
